Actor Armie Hammer will not face charges in relation to an allegation of sexual assault, as confirmed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office

Tiffiny Blacknell, the Director of the Bureau of Communications, emphasized the challenging nature of sexual assault cases and the ethical responsibility of prosecutors to only pursue charges they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Despite being unable to move forward with a prosecution, the District Attorney’s Office assured the availability of victim support services to those who seek assistance.

Armie Hammer expressed his gratitude to the District Attorney in a statement on Instagram, stating that he has maintained his innocence throughout the investigation. He expressed relief that the conclusion aligns with his belief that no crime was committed. Hammer also acknowledged the difficulties he faces in rebuilding his life after the damaging accusations.

The investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department was initiated in February 2021 after a woman, identified as Effie by her attorney, accused Hammer of raping her in 2017

However, Hammer was not charged in relation to the case and has consistently denied any wrongdoing. He described the allegation as “outrageous” and maintained that his interactions with the woman and others were consensual, pre-discussed, and mutually agreed upon.

Effie, in response to the District Attorney’s decision, expressed disappointment and a sense of duty to speak out against Hammer. She had filed a report in an attempt to hold him accountable for the harm and trauma she claims he caused her, as well as to protect other women from potential abuse.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office reviewed multiple claims of sexual assault made against Armie Hammer, without revealing the identities of the complainants.
