According to the university, the suspect in the Colorado dorm murders was a student

According to information provided to Fox News from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the suspect detained about the murder inside a dorm that claimed the lives of 2 individuals was a student.

“Members of the Colorado Springs Police Department arrested the accused on Monday morning, February 19, 2024, concerning our inquiry into the killings that occurred on Friday, February 16, 2024, on the grounds of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS),” the department announced on X, the former Twitter.

Nicholas Jordan, a resident of Detroit, Michigan, was discovered in a car on Monday morning shortly before 8:00 a.m. by officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit. According to the police, he was brought to jail without any problems.

“Investigation measures are still showing this was a single incident between two people who were familiar to each other rather than an unplanned attack against the institution or fellow students at the university,” the tweet said.

Jordan was registered for classes at the time of the incident, the university confirmed to Fox News. 2 charges of first-degree murder are the basis for his arrest.

The university police got a call shortly before 6 a.m. on Friday reporting gunfire coming from the residence hall on campus, Crestone House.

Authorities discovered a man and a woman in the room when they arrived. They ended up being identified as 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery of Pueblo, Colorado, and 24-year-old Samuel Knopp of Parker, Colorado. Both were shot once and had died.

The reason and method of death are presently being investigated as homicides by the Coroner’s Office.

Authorities declared on Sunday that the deceased and their families have been the main focus of the inquiry.
