A Tragic Jackson County Shooting Sparks Discussion About Bail Reform

A sad event that claimed the life of a Henagar man has shocked the close-knit community of Jackson County. On December 11th, a 44-year-old man named Shawnon Ray Jordan was murdered and killed on County Road 88 in Pisgah.

Jordan tragically died from his wounds despite the heroic efforts of Erlanger Hospital’s medical staff. Authorities responded quickly to the scene and took into custody Joshua Goolesby, a 32-year-old Pisgah resident, on suspicion of murder and illegal gun possession.

An unexpected development occurred during a court session: Goolesby was allowed to post a $150,000 bond. But this link came with tight requirements, such as no communication with the victim’s relatives and electronic surveillance.
