Tuesday morning at Grant Wood Elementary School, Iowa City Police arrested a man carrying a gun. According to reports, the man threatened several staff.
The police have accused Brandon Jones, a 31-year-old Iowa City resident, with 2 charges of first-degree assault and bringing a weapon on school property. The school system claims that Jones was in the school office and that he had a visible weapon holster on his hip. But he gave the weapon to another person when asked to take it off the property. No more information about the incident has been made public.
The school system in Iowa City has made sure that counselors are on hand to assist any staff members or children.
