Cook County court records show that the guy who Chicago police said shot fifteen people during a Halloween party throughout the weekend was found not guilty of first-degree murder in 1997 and found guilty of attempting to kill in 2008.

In the wake of the fatal shooting that occurred Sunday in Lawndale, William A. Groves, 48, has been indicted with 15 counts of murder attempt, 15 counts of serious assault by firearm discharge, worsened illegal use of a gun by a felon, carrying a damaged firearm, and annoyed release of a firearm in a busy building.

As a danger to public safety, Judge David Kelly ordered his detention while he awaited trial.
