The state will not charge Susan Lorincz with murder

Florida woman will be charged with one count of assault and manslaughter using a firearm, said State Attorney last Monday.

The 58-year-old White Florida woman is charged with killing her Black woman neighbor, Ajike Owens. She killed her after she went to her home and repeatedly knocked on her door. Investigators have said the Florida woman became angry because neighborhood children, including the victim’s children, were playing near her house.

The victim’s family claimed that the Florida woman harassed Owen and her children and did a racial slur toward them before the shooting. One of the victim’s sons witnessed the killing of his mother.

The Florida woman could face up to 30 years imprisonment if convicted

Charging the Florida woman with murder would need the state to prove Florida woman had a “depraved mind” at the time of the killing.

Florida woman told the police that she did not mean to kill Owens and was scared for her safety, and she admitted using racial slurs against her neighbor.
