A compromise between seven hotel-casinos and hospitality workers narrowly prevents a Super Bowl-crippling strike in Las Vegas

A union that represents employees in the hotel industry says it has canceled a strike deadline for one hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas and negotiated a tentative agreement with six others.

The agreements prevented a walkout on Monday morning, the first day of Super Bowl week in the city.

A tentative five-year deal covering around 1,000 workers was reached between the Culinary Workers Union and the Golden Nugget, Binion’s, Four Queens, Fremont, and Main Street, the union reported on Saturday.

A provisional agreement was reached on Sunday between the union and Downtown Grand, which employs roughly 200 people.

More time is being granted to the culinary and related bartenders union to come to a deal with Virgin Las Vegas, an off-Strip property.
