As per the Illinois Department of Public Health, a 3-year-old passed away on Thursday while riding a bus carrying immigrants seeking asylum to the Chicago area.

An IDPH representative stated, “IDPH is cooperating as closely as possible with local healthcare authorities, state police, and federal officials to seek solutions in this terrible situation.”

According to sources who spoke with ABC News, the bus left Brownsville, Texas.

In a statement released on Friday night, the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) stated that “every sacrifice of life is a sorrow.”

The bus stopped, 911 was dialed, and an emergency vehicle was dispatched immediately after the child started exhibiting symptoms of a health problem, based on TDEM. The parents, the document claims, were communicating with paramedics via “bilingual security personnel.”

Based on TDEM’s statement, the youngster was sent to a nearby hospital for additional medical care; however, the 3-year-old was later declared dead there.
