A 64-year-old award-winning Penn Public University professor was arrested this week after a recently placed trail camera reportedly filmed him nude, masturbating, and committing sexual activities on his beloved dog while wandering through a Pennsylvania public park.
According to court documents acquired by Law&Crime, Themis Matsoukas, a professor of chemical engineering, was arrested on Monday and accused of sexual intercourse with an animal, cruelty to animals, indecent exposure, open lewdness, and disruptive behavior.
Matsoukas “has been relieved of his responsibilities and is on leave” as a result of his arrest, a university official notified Law&Crime in an email.
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) installed a trail camera in the Alan Seeger Natural Area parking on April 12 in response to bags of hand sanitizer being taken from the public restrooms, according to a criminal complaint filed by the organization, according to Penn State’s student-run news website Onward State.
The 2017 Penn State Engineering Alumni Society Premier Teaching Award recipient Matsoukas allegedly received horrible images from the new camera fairly fast.
A man later identified as Matsoukas is reportedly seen on camera at approximately 8 o’clock. on April 13 walking about with his pet collie wearing nothing but a ski mask, a North Face backpack, boots, and a wristwatch. The man is allegedly seen masturbating near the women’s restroom before “engaging in a sexual act with the dog.” The man appeared to be recording himself engaging in filthy behavior on the animal with a silver iPad.
Investigators reportedly made contact with two private camp owners in the region, according to Alton CBS affiliate WTAJ-TV, and each of them gave rangers images from their own trail cameras of a man later identified as Matsoukas roaming the area in a North Face backpack while completely naked below the waist except for shoes. Investigators allegedly discovered six photographs from 2014 that purportedly depict Matsoukas roaming about the neighborhood naked.

According to WTAJ, on May 16, rangers saw Matsoukas on one of the trail cameras and pursued him to his green Subaru Outback. According to reports, his license plate number and their DMV photo, which they assert matched the other pictures of the nude guy strolling through the forest, were obtained.
According to Johnstown NBC affiliate WJAC-TV, rangers reported that Matsoukas came across as “nervous” immediately away when detectives executed the search warrant at his home. When they said that they were specifically looking for the silver iPad that was allegedly used the month before to record illicit sexual actions with a dog, the professor reportedly started to “panic.”
According to WJAC, he allegedly told cops, “I’m done, I’m dead, you don’t understand, I do it to blow off steam.”
Authorities claim that Matsoukas “begged” investigators to kill him at his home as the circumstances allegedly got worse.
According to reports, he asked, “What do I have to do to get you to shoot me; I need to die.”
The ski mask, North Face backpack, and silver iPad allegedly used to record the alleged sexual act with the dog were among the items from the April 13 video that were discovered during the search of Matsoukas’ home. His beloved collie matched the description of the dog on the trail camera film, according to reports.
Matsoukas’ attorney Matthew McClenahen did not promptly return a call from Law&Crime. The Centre Daily Times quotes him as saying that it would be “inappropriate to make any comment at this time.”
Matsoukas is scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on July 19.
