9 police officers, both past and present, have been charged with systemic corruption in Northern California after allegedly taking part in years’ worth of alleged wrongdoings, involving wire fraud, evidence destruction, and intentional racist police violence. This was revealed this week by a federal prosecutor.
Ismail J. Ramsey, the U.S. Attorney for California’s Northern District, stated the defendants — identified in 4 different indictments — “served as if they’re beyond the law” after a series of FBI investigations stretching 3 states on Thursday that resulted in the detention of 9 policemen.
Additionally, charges have been made against cops from 2 police agencies in Pittsburg and Antioch, towns in the Bay Area of San Francisco, that they collaborated to distribute drugs unlawfully, breached the civil rights of individuals, and fabricated records to get promotions.
