A classy hotel from the Prohibition era that had been converted into a migrant refuge previously this year saw at least 41 arrests.
The majority of the May convictions were related to domestic violence events, according to law enforcement sources who spoke with the New York Post on Sunday (September 4). The previous arrests came to light several hours after a thirty-year-old migrant was detained at the shelter just before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday (September 2) on suspicion of endangering a child. According to police sources, the victim, who was 11 years old, was the suspect’s child.
Later, according to individuals who spoke to the New York Post, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office decided not to charge the 30-year-old.
A representative for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office stated in a statement received by the New York Post that “the citizens” refused to investigate this matter after extensive investigation and consideration of the facts.” “It is our moral responsibility not to bring charges for a crime if it can’t be established beyond any reasonable doubt.”
