As a result of special counsel Jack Smith’s inquiry into how the former president handled secret papers while serving in the White House, Trump was charged with 37 counts, involving 31 counts of violating the Espionage Act.
The Department of Justice’s 49-page charge, which was made public on Friday, contains allegations that Trump kept boxes holding secret information at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida home, namely in the ballroom, the restroom and shower, the workplace, his bedroom, and a storage closet.
The charge claims that the secret and additional classified documents included data regarding foreign nuclear abilities, along with details on American and foreign protection and weaponry capabilities, American nuclear programs, possible susceptibility of the United States and its partner nations to a military assault, and strategies for a possible response in the event of an assault.
