Authorities said on Thursday that 146 pounds of cocaine were discovered by US Customs and Border Security investigators kept inside an ice cream maker.
On June 19, agents seized a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was traveling from Mexico to the United States at the Bridge of the Americas transport facility, according to a media release. A customs dog detected an advertisement ice cream machine in the truck’s bed when the truck was X-rayed, alerting officials regarding the device. According to the news release, authorities discovered 56 bundles of cocaine inside the ice cream maker.
According to authorities, the driver, a 43-year-old Mexican man, was handed to the Texas law police.
Luis Mejia, the current director of the El Paso Port, remarked, “Seizures such as this warn us all that cocaine may be hidden nearly anyplace.”
Drug smugglers have recently tried to hide drugs in weird containers to avoid being discovered.
