The attorney Carlos Moore is now demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
An 11-year-old boy in Mississippi was shot by a police officer despite calling 911 for help
Aderrien Murry, the young boy, was shot in the chest by an officer from the Indianola Police Department while the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call at Aderrien’s home. Moore insists that there was no way the boy could have been mistaken for the adult described in the 911 call. The boy’s family is calling for the officer to be fired and charged.
Aderrien, who has been released from the hospital, suffered serious injuries including a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, and a lacerated liver
He is now in recovery but will require counseling due to the trauma. The attorney and the family are urging justice and accountability, demanding that the officer be held responsible. A sit-in protest has already taken place at Indianola City Hall, and a march and rally are planned to demand the release of body-camera footage and the termination of the officer involved. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into the circumstances of the shooting.
