A $1.5 million bronze Buddha statue was stolen from a Los Angeles art gallery using a loading truck, wherein a single thief was caught on the surveillance cameras breaking into the art gallery and stealing the bronze Buddha statue.
According to a report published in The Messenger, the surveillance cameras filmed the thief stealing the bronze Buddha statue at 2:30 in the morning and placed it in a moving truck, which the thief also used to flee from the scene together with the stolen bronze Buddha statue.
Following the stealing of the bronze Buddha statue, the owner expressed his distress and claimed that the bronze Buddha statue was too precious for him as he owned it for over half a century after creating it initially for a temple during Japan’s Edo Period.

Thief Still At Large After Stealing $1.5 Million Bronze Buddha Statue from Los Angeles Art Gallery
After the bronze Buddha statue was stolen, authorities are still investigating the possible motives of the thief, who was still at large, in stealing the $1.5 million bronze Buddha statue as it would be hard for any thief to sell the statue.
Authorities encouraged anyone with information about the thief to contact them and help them with the investigation to have the bronze Buddha statue back where it belongs, The Art Newspaper reported.
