A Texas shooter is now in custody following a terrifying incident that took place at a medical building on Tuesday afternoon

The authorities received distress calls about an “active shooter” situation at the Methodist Family Health Center around 12:15 p.m. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene to find a victim on the ground outside the clinic, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Eyewitnesses reported the Texas shooter seeing a Black male, armed with a long gun, fleeing the area in a black Chrysler vehicle. However, the Texas shooter’s escape was short-lived as the vehicle was soon involved in a crash.

During a press conference, Cedar Hill Police Chief Ely Reyes revealed that several officers witnessed the crash and observed the Texas shooter holding the long gun. In response to the imminent threat, five officers discharged their firearms at the suspect.

Following the shooting, the officers immediately removed the wounded suspect from the vehicle and administered life-saving measures until medical assistance arrived. The Texas shooter was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he is currently in stable but critical condition. As for the physician who was injured during the shooting, they were taken to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

An additional driver involved in the crash that occurred after the shooting sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital

Chief Reyes stated that the incident will be thoroughly investigated by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the District Attorney’s office. To shed light on the events, footage from multiple cars and body-worn cameras will be used as part of the investigation. As is standard procedure, the officers involved in the shooting will be placed on routine administrative leave during the investigation.

The community and medical center staff are grateful for the swift response of the officers, which helped prevent further harm and led to the apprehension of the Texas shooter.
