North Texas Lawmakers are taking a third approach to the issue of property tax relief for North Texans. Republican leaders are split over two plans.
North Texas Lawmakers favor abolishing property taxes in the state altogether. The inconsistent property rights and taxes should be voted on, said lawmakers.
Lawmakers are at loggerheads over the best way to distribute property tax relief. For the special session, Governor Abbott told lawmakers to focus only on sending billions of dollars to schools and help them lower their tax rates. The Lawmakers obliged the Governor.

Governor Abbott Calls for Abolishing Property Taxes During Lawmakers Recap Event
Governor Abbott and lawmakers planned to provide property tax relief where the state purchases a part of the school maintenance and operation property tax, resulting in a cut for residential and commercial property tax owners.
The lawmakers and Governor Abbott agreed to Abolish Property Taxes.
