The contract, unveiled on November 21, ensures Kyle Gibson a solid $13 million, with a $12 million salary earmarked for the upcoming year

Additionally, there’s a $12 million club option for 2025 accompanied by a $1 million buyout. Kyle Gibson stands to earn a $500,000 bonus in any season where he successfully pitches 175 innings or more. An intriguing aspect of the agreement is a $1 million assignment bonus if the pitcher is traded, along with the perk of a hotel suite during road trips.

In contrast, Sonny Gray‘s recently disclosed three-year, $75 million contract entails a $10 million salary in 2024, $25 million in 2025, and a substantial $35 million in 2026. Details obtained by The Associated Press reveal a $30 million option for 2027, subject to the team’s decision. If exercised, Gray has the option to opt-out, and in case of non-exercise by either party, a $5 million buyout, payable in $1 million installments annually from 2027 to 2031.

Both Gray and Kyle Gibson, aged 34 and 36 respectively, enjoy the added luxury of hotel suites on road trips, enhancing their overall contract experience

Notably, Kyle Gibson achieved career highs this year with 15 wins and 33 starts for AL East champion Baltimore, while Gray, a former AL Cy Young Award runner-up, compiled an 8-8 record with a stellar 2.79 ERA for Minnesota in the previous season. With these additions, the Cardinals are fortifying their rotation, having also secured 36-year-old left-hander Lance Lynn.
