Seattle, currently leading the NFC West with a 5-2 record, demonstrated their commitment to strengthening the roster by acquiring Leonard Williams for a second-round pick in 2024 and a fifth-round pick in 2025. Despite the relatively high cost, the Seahawks benefitted from New York covering the majority of Leonard Williams’ salary, leaving Seattle with only a prorated veteran minimum to pay.

Both Leonard Williams and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll expressed confidence in a smooth transition, with Williams expected to see action in the upcoming game against Baltimore.
