The Los Angeles Chargers are a team on the rise, and even though they frequently come close to victories and seem to have the components to do so, they haven’t yet seen true success under Justin Herbert. The club is focused on winning now as it prepares for the 2023 season.
Bosa: Every year, I want to play great
In a report from CBS Sports, Joey Bosa, a star defensive end, spoke on how important it is for the team to win this year rather than focusing on boosting his own stats.
Joey Bosa stated: “Every year, I want to play great,” according to the team transcript. I wish to support my group. I think my desire to win some games is greater than it has ever been. I believe that performing my duties is more crucial than ever. I obviously want to be dynamic, make plays, and all of that, but I believe that the most I can be while still being myself on the field and making these plays is a team player.
The 28-year-old addressed his remarks by saying that while he has always desired victory, he is aware that his time in the game is dwindling as he ages.
When I say that, it’s not as if I didn’t want to win before, Joey Bosa added. The opportunities are getting smaller and smaller as I get older. As a rookie, you have the whole of your career ahead of you.
He claimed that as he matured, his attitude shifted to place more value on the accomplishments of the team than on his own.
He remarked, “I feel like as you get older, the personal goals and the personal accolades just don’t quite mean as much.” Naturally, being named Defensive Player of the Year would be impressive and all that, but I believe that participating in a game with your team, your friends, and your brothers with whom you have forged a bond is a much more enduring accomplishment.

Joey Bosa will make his debut on September 10 against the Miami Dolphins
In an article from The Chargers, Joey Bosa was chosen for four Pro Bowls and was voted the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year for his 301 tackles, 60.5 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections.
His high school and collegiate championship games were among his football career highlights, so completing the trifecta with a Super Bowl would, in his words, be “incredible.”
Joey Bosa also praised Khalil Mack, another defensive all-star, and expected a successful season for both of them.
Los Angeles’ season last year came to an unfortunate conclusion in a wild-card loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after the Chargers lost a 27-0 lead. Due to a groin ailment, Joey Bosa missed 12 games in the 2022 season.
When the Chargers begin their season on September 10 against the Miami Dolphins, he will make his debut.
