Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors and his wife Ayesha Curry officially announced the beginning of a new initiative to support Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) children in receiving nourishing meals and additional resources. Reports from si.com.
The announcement started out with the following, which also featured statements from Steph and Ayesha:
“Eat is a Stephen and Ayesha Curry business today. Learn. Play. declared a strengthened commitment to ensuring that all kids in the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) receive the nourishing meals they require to flourish, the help they need to become greater readers, great schoolyards, and opportunities to be active and participate in youth sports. Eat. Learn. Play. will start a new campaign with the goal of raising and allocating $50 million in extra support and resources for Oakland students by the 2026 academic year. Eat will continue to be fully covered by the Currys. Learn. Play.’s fundraising and administrative expenses, ensuring that every dollar raised is used for the foundation’s programs that benefit the neighborhood.”

“When we first started Eat. Learn. Play. We began working to help the children in our community reach their full potential in 2019 after realizing the great need that existed in our new hometown of Oakland. We have witnessed the positive effects that result when a community banded together to bring about change throughout the years, and we are now even more committed to meeting Oakland children where they are on a daily basis, transforming their educational experience, and bringing about long-lasting change for future generations.”
