AEW Superstar Anthony Bowens, a prominent figure in the wrestling world, nearly embarked on a different journey before aligning with Tony Khan’s AEW

The past AEW Tag Team Champion stepped into the AEW ring for the first time on October 6, 2020, during an episode of “AEW Dark,” which had been recorded on September 25.

Anthony Bowens disclosed. “I initially accepted WWE’s offer, but then Tony [Khan] got wind of it and whisked me to Jacksonville.”

Anthony Bowens further shared that his first encounter with his tag team partner, Max Caster, occurred after Khan’s arrangement brought him to Jacksonville

On the same night, The Acclaimed, their tag team, stepped onto the “AEW Dark” stage, competing against The Best Friends, and the duo’s contracts followed suit.

“That’s when Max, my partner, introduced himself, Max Caster. He approached me with this concept for us to be The Acclaimed, and I was instantly intrigued. Though unfamiliar with the details, I was on board. We wrestled that night and upon returning, he presented the contracts. I signed immediately.”

The Acclaimed subsequently ascended as a fan-favorite tag team within AEW, proudly grasping the AEW World Tag Team titles for a remarkable 140-day tenure. Their reign concluded in February when The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn) seized the titles. The Gunns’ reign was short-lived as they surrendered the titles to current champions, FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), in April.
