The 2026 World Cup will be staged in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico for the first time ever. US cities hosting games include Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, Miami, and New York/New Jersey.
Matches will be held in Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. Canada has held the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2015) and FIFA men’s Under-20 World Cup (2007), so it is ready to host a senior men’s tournament.

FIFA hasn’t released tournament dates. In 2026, the World Cup will return to June and July after being held in November and December in 2022 owing to the hot weather in Qatar.
How Many Teams Will Be in 2026?
FIFA confirmed in 2017 that the 2026 World Cup would expand from the 32-team format used since 1998 in France. The field will double to 48 nations. This will add 16 teams, providing more games and global interest.
FIFA said that the new system will not increase the maximum number of games any team can play, which is seven for each finalist.
