On Saturday, more than 2,000 people demonstrated in Downtown Houston in support of Palestine during its conflict with Israel.

The protest was held 1 week after the start of the Middle East conflict when more than 1,300 Israeli civilians were killed in Gaza by the militant group Hamas, which the US government has labeled as a terrorist group.

But the actual fight has been going on for at least 7 decades. Jewish Israel and Islamic Palestine would form 2 separate states, according to a 1947 United Nations proposal.

Protesters shouted, “The Opposition is reasonable when individuals are occupied.”

The two sides were accusing one another of war crimes during the week-long conflict.
