In the continuing trial related to author E. Jean Carroll’s federal assault and libel complaint, the legal team of former President Donald Trump would never call any of the witnesses to the stand, according to Trump’s lawyer on Wednesday.
A possible witness, a psychologist, is going to be unavailable to testify, the lawyer, Joe Tacopina, informed the judge on Wednesday. Only one other suspect on Trump’s list, Trump oneself, did not plan to testify, according to Tacopina, who stated this on Tuesday.
Considering that the responsibility of proof rests with the plaintiffs to establish their case, defenders are not required to bring witnesses at the hearing and frequently opt not to.
Wednesday morning, the psychologist who assessed Carroll claimed that she had experienced trauma as a result of a supposed assault by Trump. Carroll stated that Trump sexually assaulted her in a New York City departmental store in the middle of the 1990s in the lawsuit and throughout the trial. Trump rejected that claim and charged Carroll with faking the incident to boost book sales.
