Sen. Bob Casey is Seeking His 4th Term

The veteran Senator, who is seeking his fourth term, had previously been non-committal about his plans, but now claims he’s “not done yet”. Casey’s announcement comes as Pennsylvania remains a crucial battleground state in the upcoming elections, with both the Republican and Democratic parties fighting to gain an advantage in the Senate.

In 2022, Pennsylvania saw a fiercely competitive Senate race, with Democrat John Fetterman eventually emerging as the winner over Republican Mehmet Oz. Casey is expected to face off against potential Republican challengers, including David McCormick, who unsuccessfully ran against Oz in the 2022 GOP Senate primary, and far-right nominee Doug Mastriano, who has also hinted at running for Senate in 2024.

McCormick has expressed interest in the race, touring and releasing a book, while Mastriano believes he has a following of over two million supporters, according to a published report in CNN News.

What Sen. Bob Casey Should Expect in Reelection?

Casey’s reelection bid is expected to be an expensive and competitive contest, with Fetterman having raised over $76 million in his 2022 race.

Casey’s latest filings with the Federal Election Commission show he had just over $3 million in cash on hand at the end of 2022, with more funds expected to come in as he gears up for his campaign. In his announcement, Casey cited cutting through the gridlock and standing up to powerful special interests as key issues he plans to tackle if reelected.
