Guy with Pants Down and Gun in Backpack Arrested by Police

On Thursday, October 13, 2022, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division were able to apprehend an armed suspect in the 3000 block of South Park in South Los Angeles after using less lethal alternatives.

A man was found lying on the ground on the south side of 52nd Place in the South Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles while engaging in a lewd act, with a gun in a backpack nearby over the 110 Freeway.

Both a bean bag shotgun and a 40mm less lethal round were used by the police. Even though he tried several times, the suspect never managed to remove the gun from his bag.

Without further incident, officers moved in and arrested the suspect. It was confirmed off-camera by an LAPD Sergeant that a “ghost gun” and multiple magazines of ammunition were found at the scene.

Another man who was living in a tent next to the suspect was arrested, but he was later set free. The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and took the suspect to the hospital, where he was treated for blunt force injuries caused by nonlethal weapons.
