As it began its counteroffensive towards Russia to retake occupied territory, Ukraine received alarming news from 2 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies.
Following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s “special military operation” towards Ukraine in February 2022, NATO became an important ally for Ukraine. The military alliance has given Ukraine hundreds of millions of euros to support its defense strategy; as a result, the Russian military is now in a more dangerous position, undermining Putin’s future military objectives.
Yet, the United States and Slovakia also broke the terrible news to Ukraine this week, posing a danger to drastically alter the sum of humanitarian and military assistance that Kyiv receives as the conflict rages on.
