The information about ESPN’s extensive wave of cutbacks has been making the rounds in the sports-related media sector for a while now. But the degree and experience of the workers who were fired caught everyone off guard.

The news of Mike Soltys’ departure first reached users. After 43 years with the organization, Soltys was dismissed.

But right now, Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy revealed Peter Gianesini’s dismissal. Following 25 years with ESPN, Gianesini, who was previously the senior director of audio-digital programming, was fired.

The only feeling that Gianesini would openly express as his period at ESPN and The Walt Disney Company approaches a conclusion is appreciation.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the authorities who granted me control over their initiatives, especially in the beginning and afterward, and far most significantly, their people. I appreciate the artists that trusted me regarding their reputations and speech. I never once considered that responsibility to be petty.”
