After unexpected discussions among the presidents of Ukraine and France in Paris on Sunday, France announced further military help for Ukraine, involving light tanks, armored vehicles, troop training, and other support as the Ukrainians prepare for an attack on Russian forces.
Emmanuel Macron of France and Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine met for almost 3 hours at the French presidential Elysee Palace. The meeting was secret up till the Ukrainian president’s landing in Paris from Germany on a French government plane, expanding his multi-stop European tour.
Military assistance was a key agenda issue since Ukraine intended to launch an operation in the hope of reclaiming Russian-occupied areas. Without providing particular figures, Macron’s administration stated that France would provide dozens of small tanks and armed vehicles “in the weeks future.” Additional air defense systems have been promised, but once again, no information was made available.
Additionally, extra Ukrainians would be prepared for conflict, with France planning to train around 4,000 more in Poland and approximately 2,000 in France this year because of a larger European effort, according to Macron’s administration.
