Will there be a second season of Trolley? The first article about renewal possibilities on Ready Steady Cut.
We talk about whether season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama Trolley will air and whether it will be renewed or canceled.
To say that Trolley is a multifaceted production would be putting it mildly. The assemblyman Nam Joong-do (Park Hee-soon) and the book conservator Kim Hye-joo (Kim Hyun-Joo), whose lives appear to be magnets for catastrophe, are at the center of the story.
But at its core, the story is about how a formerly happy couple is thrust into personal conflict and marital difficulties, all of which are accentuated by lingering secrets and disclosures that are skillfully revealed throughout the course of the show. This politically charged melodrama has been fascinating to watch, and the outstanding cast really contributes to the suspense.
The audience has liked Trolley too, with consistent weekly viewing and generally positive reviews of the episodes. The first season received a 4/5 rating from us at Ready Steady Cut, and we concluded: “Overall, this K-Drama is absolutely worth its investment.
It becomes immediately clear why this program draws its name from the moral conundrum known as the Trolley Problem. This drama is about how tragedy can push us in different directions as much as it is about a political and familial power struggle brought on by the murder of one man.
This political melodrama with hints of mystery guarantees audiences a fascinating watch because it is full of twists, revelations, and occasionally emotional themes.
On December 19, 2022, Trolley made its debut on Netflix and SBS, and its 16-episode run is scheduled to end on February 14, 2023. Due to a pause for the Lunar New Year festivities, this is one week later than originally planned.

Will there be a season 2 of the K-Drama series Trolley renewed or canceled status
The existence of a Season 2 of Trolley has not yet been confirmed by Netflix or SBS.
Even though Trolley has respectable (but unspectacular) ratings and an engaging story, it appears doubtful that a second season will be given to the show. The bulk of shows still prefers a one-and-done model, meaning they don’t stick around for longer than about 16 episodes, despite follow-up installments becoming more popular in Korea today.
Along with this, it’s important to take into account how Trolley’s second season might seem a little out of place. Hye-terrible Joo’s life cannot be extended for the sake of the story that has been told over the past few months, and more twists cannot be created only to justify the release of additional episodes.
Having said that, it’s impossible to rule out Trolley returning for a second season, especially because there has been no official word on the show’s renewal.

Since the program is, in theory, about a moral conundrum, it is possible that the creators will take a sharp turn and center their attention on a different family in a subsequent season or choose an entirely another path. It’s obviously doubtful, and we’d wager that this political opera will officially come to an end with the finale next week, but it’s fun to speculate while we can.
As always, if there are any updates on season two of Trolley, we’ll keep you informed.
