Is Lockwood and Co. on Netflix suitable for children? initially featured on Ready Steady Cut.
Are kids allowed to watch Lockwood and Co. on Netflix? We talk about the highly regarded series and offer parenting guidance.
With his Netflix fantasy series Lockwood and Co., Joe Cornish is back in the game. It is based on the Jonathan Stroud young adult novel series of the same name. It centers on three young ghost hunters in London who run a modest business with no adult supervision. The first two of the five books are covered in the already-released first season.
The show has received just somewhat positive reviews to date, but it may perform well for Netflix given that another young adult major hit premiered on Wednesday. One may believe that it is appropriate for children to watch because it stars three teenagers. The issue of whether or not the program is suitable for children, however, is raised by the possibility that the program’s rating may suggest something different about it.
What is Lockwood and Co on Netflix about?
In Lockwood & Co., three teens who are interested in the paranormal establish their own business in London without the help of any adults. Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman), the founder of the aforementioned firm known as Lockwood & Co., is a driven young man who develops emotional walls to protect himself from his horrific past.
In addition to George, the company’s researcher, and a fantastic field agent, he has two sidekicks: the impetuous and unyielding Lucy (Ruby Stokes), the group’s newest member with a remarkable capacity for listening.
Here is Lockwood & Co.’s official synopsis, courtesy of Netflix:
“In a world plagued by ghosts, where giant corporations employ psychic teens to battle the supernatural, only one company operates without adult supervision, and its name is Lockwood & Co. Run by Anthony Lockwood, a rebellious young entrepreneur haunted by his mysterious past, his brilliant but eccentric sidekick George and a newly arrived, supremely gifted girl called Lucy, this renegade trio are about to unravel a terrifying mystery that will change the course of history.”
Is Lockwood and Co. on Netflix okay for kids?
As always, this will be based on the child’s age, maturity level, and parental discretion. Due to the severe language and violent content, it is not advised for children under the age of 14, therefore it might not be fully suitable for, say, eight-year-olds.
The subject matter may also contain some mildly creepy sequences with ghosts and other paranormal creatures that may frighten smaller children.

Why are Lockwood and Co. rated TV-14?
Lockwood and Co. received a TV-14 rating due to some harsh language and profanity, references to sex, drugs, and alcohol, as well as some violent and intense episodes that might not be suitable for the younger children in the house.
These rules should obviously be taken into account by parents before allowing their kids to watch the series. Kids under 10 may be urged not to check it out, while teenagers on the younger or older side of the age limit might not be turned off by it.
