Leland Tyler Wayne was born on the 16th of September, 1993, in St Louis, Missouri. His parents, Lamont and Leslie Wayne are his grandparents. His ancestors are native Atlantans.

Career
While still in high school, Wayne started using social media to network with famous hip hop artists. As often as she could, his mother would drive him from St. Louis to Atlanta to meet up with artists she’d been in contact with via email.
This led to the likes of Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, and Future becoming involved in his work with Tay Don in the beginning. Wayne relocated to Atlanta after high school to study business management at Morehouse College. However, after a semester at the university, he decided to take a break to pursue a career in music full-time. In 2013, he released his first mixtape, “19 & Boomin,” under the stage name Metro Boomin.

Breaking New Ground
In 2014, Metro Boomin‘s career as a hip-hop producer began to take off. That year, he acted as an executive producer on Future’s mixtape “Monster,” and also produced the sixth song on Future’s studio album “Honest,” entitled “I Won.” Metro produced Future and Drake’s “What a Time to Be Alive” collaboration mixtape in 2015.
In 2016, he executive produced Future’s mixtape “Purple Reign,” on which he also produced the popular song “Jumpman.” “Bad and Boujee” by Migos, 21 Savage’s “X” (which he also produced), and the EP “Savage Mode” were all produced by Metro in 2016. “Mask Off” from Future, “Tunnel Vision” from Kodak Black and Big Sean’s “Bounce Back” from Big Sean were all charting singles produced by Metro in the following year.
Additional EPs, Mixtapes, and Albums
Nav, a Canadian rapper and record producer, collaborated with Metro on the “Perfect Timing” mixtape in the summer of 2017. On October 31st of that year, he released a surprise album with 21 Savage and Offset called “Without Warning,” a joint effort. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 thanks to the track “Ric Flair Drip.” Next, in November, Metro released a collaboration studio album with Big Sean named “Double or Nothing”; it was promoted by the singles “Pull Up n Wreck” and “So Good.”
Despite announcing his retirement in April 2018 via Instagram, Metro has gone on to produce albums for Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne, including “Queen” and “Tha Carter V.” Later that month, he published his first studio album, “Not All Heroes Wear Capes,” which he had worked hard on for three years. Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Gunna, Drake, 21 Savage, and Travis Scott are among the many artists who participate on the album. It debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. “Escape from LA,” “Until I Bleed Out,” “Faith,” and the number-one hit single “Heartless” were all produced by Metro alongside the Weeknd in late 2019 as part of his upcoming album “After Hours.” Metro’s fourth album with 21 Savage, “Savage Mode II,” was a massive hit in 2020.

Other Projects
“Metro Thuggin’,” an album Metro was planning to release with Young Thug, was one of his many projects. To help spread the word about the initiative, a tune called “The Blanguage” was published. Although several leaked recordings appeared online in late 2015, “Metro Thuggin’” was never released.
A joint venture between Universal Music Group and Republic Records and Metro’s Boominati Worldwide was announced in June of last year. For Gap’s “Hold Me Now” campaign the following year, Metro was paired with rapper SZA and a remix of “Hold Me Now” from the Thompson Twins.
