Who purchased Johnny Bench memorabilia?
Alan Horwitz, a businessman, purchased items related to Johnny. Alan, along with other avid 76ers supporters, attended the auction. The Johnny memorabilia he purchased was just one of several things he ended up purchasing.
Alan admitted that he had met Johnny in person before Johnny signed with the Cincinnati Reds. After that, he became friends with Johnny and saw him play at spring training in Tampa for the next 16 years. He also attended All-Star Games and World Series games and saw his Hall of Fame induction. In order to give back to the Bench family and Johnny’s fans, I felt obliged to take part in the auction of Johnny’s memorabilia after learning about it.
Johnny was taken aback by Alan’s purchase of all the trophies and memorabilia and expressed his gratitude and pride for the fact that they will be on display for millions of followers. It was Alan’s one and only wish that he get to meet my boys, and that is exactly what will happen as soon as we are able to resume our journey in safety.
