Aamir Liaquat Hussain (July 5, 1971 – June 9, 2022; Urdu: ) was a Pakistani politician, columnist, and television host. Hussain was a top-ranking TV anchor who was named three times among the world’s 500 most influential Muslims and one of Pakistan’s 100 most popular celebrities. He was repeatedly chastised in the media for his inflammatory comments on celebrities. From August 2018 until October 2021, he was a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly before resigning from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He formerly served in Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz’s federal cabinet as Minister of State for Religious Affairs from 2004 until 2007. He died of suffocation on June 9, 2022, in his room at his home, according to investigators. His house was filled with smoke owing to a generator.

Hussain revealed in an interview that he earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Liaquat Medical College Jamshoro in 1995, and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Islamic Studies from Trinity College and University in 2002. Hussain’s BA degree in Islamic Studies from Trinity College and University was ruled unrecognized and false by Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission in 2006. The Guardian revealed in 2003 that this institution was a hoax where you could acquire a degree for as little as £150 in as little as 28 days. In 2005, the University of Karachi declared his BA degree to be forged. Hussain revealed his BA degree to the Pakistani Election Commission when he filed his candidacy papers for the 2002 general elections. Hussain was said to have bought his degrees from Trinity College and University in order to run for office. In 2002, it was made mandatory for candidates running for seats in Pakistan’s Provincial and National Assemblies to have at least a bachelor’s degree.

Hussain was reportedly a candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Karachi in 2012, where he graduated in 2008. Hussain later enrolled in the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology in 2010, where he earned a master’s degree in Islamic Studies, although according to university officials, he never attended a class or took any exams. Hussain was accused of obtaining a bogus degree from Ashwood University in 2015. His profile was discovered in Axact’s primary server, according to the Federal Investigation Agency. Hussain admitted to paying $1136 for a fraudulent degree from Ashwood University.

Politics
Hussain was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan for the first time in 2002 on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s platform from NA-249 (Karachi-XI) constituency and was appointed Minister of State for Religious Affairs, Zakat, and Usher Division in Shaukat Aziz’s cabinet in September 2004. In May 2005, as the junior minister of Religious Affairs, Hussain requested that Pakistani religious academics write a ‘Fatwa’ about suicide bombers. During a visit to Jamia Binoria in June 2005, he was assaulted by furious youngsters.
Police, on the other hand, denied that Hussain was manhandled and claimed that the mob had just sung slogans. Hussain served as Minister of State for Religious Affairs until July 2007, when his party urged him to quit both his ministerial position and his National Assembly membership. According to an official statement, the party was dissatisfied with Hussain’s words about Salman Rushdie. He withdrew from politics in 2007. MQM later dismissed him from the party in 2008.
Memhooda Sultana Foundation was founded by him. Hussain was listed in the annual edition of The 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan from 2013 to 2015. Hussain was arrested by Sindh Rangers in August 2016 when MQM workers attacked media houses and MQM leaders were arrested. Hussain was charged with the facilitation of hate speech in February 2017, and an Anti-Terrorism Court in Pakistan ordered the authorities to place his name on the Exit Control List after police failed to produce Hussain in court proceedings.
In March 2018, Hussain joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). In the 2018 Pakistani general election, he was re-elected to the National Assembly as a PTI candidate for Constituency NA-245 (Karachi East-IV). He left Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on October 4, 2021, after resigning from his seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan.

Personal Life
Hussain has been married three times. Syeda Bushra Aamir, his first wife, has two children with him. He married Syeda Tuba Anwar for the second time in June 2018. This union lasted about three years.
In February 2022, Amir married Syeda Dania Shah, an 18-year-old girl. Syeda Dania Shah, his third wife, filed for divorce after three months of marriage in May 2022. Hussain allegedly physically tortured Dania and forced her to shoot pornographic recordings with his pals, according to News International.
