When addressing “The Wendy Williams Show” finale, Kevin Hunter didn’t hold back.
The final episode of Williams’ daytime chat show was criticised as a “travesty” by her ex-husband, who is currently suing Debmar-Mercury for producing the programme.
“I feel that it is a shame on Debmar-side Mercury’s to have such an unceremonious departure without Wendy being involved,” he stated in a statement to “Entertainment Tonight.” For a show that has been running for more than ten years, Hunter, 50, said, “It is the first time this has ever been done in the history of talk shows.” There’s no reason why a bigger party with Wendy couldn’t take place, in my opinion.
Who created Wendy Series?
Hunter and his ex-wife Wendy Williams co-created “Wendy,” and the two have a son together, Kevin Hunter Jr., who is 21. However, Hunter lost his job as an executive producer just one week after she requested a divorce in April 2019.
I am not happy with the way the show is going out personally, and I am truly sorry that the show’s fans have to watch it go down the way that it is, he continued. “I know the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making the show such a success, [and] I know the blood, sweat, and tears that went into making the show such a failure,” he said.
Page Six received confirmation earlier this week from a show representative that the 13th season of the programme would end on Friday. Williams, 57, opted not to take the stage for the farewell tribute, but the programme still featured a video montage of the presenter who has been battling illness recently.
When The Wendy Williams Show has been released?
The announcement read, “The final original episode of ‘The Wendy Williams Show‘ will run on Friday, June 17 with a video farewell to the renowned host.” 13 fruitful years of syndication bring an end to the show.
In March, Hunter filed a lawsuit against Debmar-Mercury for unfair dismissal. The production business was accused of firing Hunter unfairly “on the basis of his marital status” to Williams in the civil case, which was filed in federal court in New York City. “Hunter was one of the reasons the Wendy William Show had such incredible success, and everything seemed to go south once he left,” Hunter’s lawyer, Abe George, told Page Six in a statement after filing.
In violation of New York City’s human rights statutes, Mr Hunter’s employment was terminated just because of his marriage to Wendy. In Hunter’s lawsuit, Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, the two founders of Debmar-Mercury, were named as defendants and a jury trial was required.
According to court documents Page Six was able to get, Hunter, who is currently residing in Florida with his fiancée Sharina Hudson, with whom he also has a child, is requesting a monetary award of at least $7 million as well as punitive damages, lost income, and legal fees. Hunter told “ET” that “Debmar’s methodical meddling in my private life, their desire to use “divide and conquer” to have access to Wendy, and the behaviours they continued to engage in with me and my ex-wife are despicable.
