Coming in for work! At the Armed Forces Training Academy last year, Duchess Kate made an official appearance.
From Commoner to Future Queen Consort, the Evolution of Duchess Kate
The Duchess of Cambridge, 40, captioned a Saturday, June 25, an Instagram carousel with the words “Today on Armed Forces Day, William and I would like to pay tribute to the brave men and women, past and present, serving in all of our armed forces, at sea, on land, and in the air, here in the UK and around the world.” ‘Thank you for everything you and your families have given up to keep us safe,’ they said. I had the privilege of visiting the @BritishArmy last year to observe how they train both serving soldiers and fresh recruits.
“It was fantastic to observe first-hand the many crucial and varied tasks the military perform day in and day out to defend us all, and I look forward to learning more about the @RoyalNavy and @RoyalAirForceUK in due course,” she continued.
It’s Amazing To See Duchess Kate’s Style Change
As she handled equipment and spoke with the troops, Kate, who ended her personal message with her distinctive “C” initial, was pictured donning the standard military garb. The mother of three royal children—Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4—previously paid a visit to the Pirbright Training Academy in Surrey, England, in November 2021. She shares these children with husband Prince William.
A few days before Duchess Kate disclosed her visit with the military, she and the 40-year-old Duke of Cambridge welcomed the release of their first official joint portrait to the public. On June 23, the couple paid a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum at the University of Cambridge to view a painting by Jamie Coreth. The couple wed in April 2011.
The decision to commission me to paint this scene has been the greatest honour of my life. “I wanted to portray Their Royal Highnesses in a way that made them seem both casual and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified,” Coreth said to the BBC on Thursday. “Since it is the first photograph of them together, and notably from when they were The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to suggest a feeling of balance between their public and private lives,” the artist said.
Crown romance! The Relationship History of Prince William and Duchess Kate
William has made a point of discussing his military experience frequently throughout the couple’s public lives. Prior to eventually becoming a lieutenant with the Royal Air Force, he previously attended the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.
What’s the use of going through all of my training if I can’t one day accomplish what [my brother, Prince Harry] does in the military? Despite being next in line to the throne, William previously disclosed to the Today show in June 2014 that he might be called up for military service.
