A policewoman officer was fatally shot when she responded to a domestic violence call in 2020, the suspect sought insanity defense to steer clear from death penalty. Attorney of Elliahs Dorsey said on Wednesday that a medical report from a doctor justifying that the respondent’s action was he is suffering from mental illness when he shot the officer. Officer Breann Leath together with three other officers of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a domestic violence that involves Dorsey.
The officer incurred two gunshot wound to the head that cause her instantaneous death. Dorsey was charged of murder, attempted murder to the woman he allegedly shot inside his apartment. The Marion county judge ruled and the prosecutors can seek death penalty for Dorsey.
