Cheer’s Maddy Brum Is in The Hospital After Being Struck by A Moving Car

After a terrifying accident, cheerleader Maddy Brum feels “lucky to be alive” and says as much. Brum posted on Instagram on Thursday to alert followers of the popular Netflix series that she was struck by a car two days earlier in Kansas City, Missouri while crossing the street with some friends. The automobile was traveling between 20 and 30 miles per hour.

Brum claimed that despite the frightening experience

She felt “extra blessed” and “happy to be surrounded by individuals who give me nothing but happiness and comfort.” Brum captioned pictures of herself lying on a hospital bed with, “Fortunately, I merely left with bruises and wounds on my body.”

She also expressed her gratitude to the Cheer Live Tour 2022 crew for “assisting me at the hospital and arranging for an orthopedic physician to make sure I could still perform what I loved.” Brum added that she will still perform the remaining gigs on the tour “to the best of my abilities” despite the incident.

There are still 20 shows left on the tour, including this Friday’s show in St. Louis, Missouri. Among the upcoming gigs are visits to Grand Rapids, Michigan (on Sunday), Detroit, and Chicago (on Saturday) (Tuesday).

When season 2 of Cheer debuted on the streaming site back in January, Brum was one of the show’s breakout performers. She plays sports for Navarro College.

The five different cheerleaders are the focus of the episodes, which also cover cheerleading history including the founding of the National Cheerleaders Association. She portrays a character that is a reflection of her own life in the Cheers comedy series on Netflix. She worked hard to get the title of the best female flyer in the nation.
