Border Patrol to be removed near Canadian Border.

American Civil Liberties Union made an agreement with the US Border Patrol that they will not establish checkpoint in New Hampshire, 100 miles near the Canadian border until January 1, 2025. The reason is the Border Patrol has been conducting illegal search to those crossing that led to the arrest of American citizens violating the drug law, which they said not related to the Immigration law. They further stated that these actions are unlawful and invasive, and these agreement means the Northern New England will be free from these illegal actions.

In 2017, a lawsuit was filed against Border Patrol wherein 16 people charged with possessing small drugs, not because they were illegally crossing the border. Two of the apprehended filed a lawsuit, wherein one of them only returning home from a fishing trip. The settlement only applies to Woodstock border patrol checkpoint. In the Federal Law, Border patrol is only allowed to enforce immigration laws 100 miles from the country’s borders.
