According to a report published in the New York Post, researchers have been advising people not to sleep while wearing dirty socks after studies discovered that people could acquire bacteria, the same as the bacteria found in cockroaches, upon wearing dirty socks, which could infect various parts of the human body.
People wearing dirty socks in their sleep could also transfer bacteria into the bed, which might be risky to other people as well and wearing dirty socks would only reduce the blood flow, causing overheat, especially if wearing dirty socks that are too tight.

Researchers Continue Urging People to Stop Wearing Dirty Socks to Bed Due to Harmful Effects on Health
With its harmful effects on health, researchers continued urging people to stop wearing dirty socks to bed and advised them to use clean socks if they insisted on wearing socks in sleep, The Times of India reported.
Aside from wearing dirty socks while sleeping, researchers and health officials also revealed that sleeping naked was not advisable because it would only increase the chance of making the bedsheets dirty and unsafe.
