Dr. Julianne Santarosa got the results of her full-body MRI scan last July Fourth vacation while she was on a boat near Tyler, Texas. The celebrations were darkened by what she witnessed.
The scan was done by radiologists at Prenuvo, and they found a lump in her lungs. Santarosa, a spinal accessing surgeon in Dallas, was able to see the circled area when she viewed the pictures on her smartphone from the patient’s portal.
She said in an interview with CNBC, “I felt like, if I chewed a taco chip, the thing wasn’t supposed to be there.”
Santarosa, 41 at the time, did not experience pain anywhere in or around her lungs and had no cause to assume anything particular was incorrect before forking over $2,500 for the Prenuvo scan. Instead, she had seen a Prenuvo ad on Facebook and had a feeling that she should have the scan as she had felt overall strange since undergoing in vitro fertilization.
