A novel digital platform aimed at enhancing access to health care resources is set to be deployed in places of worship across the South and West sides of the city

Mildred Baskin, a member of one of the churches, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I have a lot of health issues, too, and I think that would be great that we have it here in the church.”

In collaboration with the Patient Point Foundation, the Faith 1 Network is spearheading this endeavor by installing interactive health care resources in sanctuaries. Rev. Robin Hood emphasized the importance of this effort, remarking, “Our communities are marginalized. We don’t have great health care information and health care resources, so it makes sense to me that it starts from the church.”

These kiosks, equipped with large touch screens for easy accessibility, offer vital health care resources education and facilitate connections with doctors and clinics.

Pastor Henry Barlow, founder of Faith 1 Network, stressed the necessity for self-care and dispelling common health misconceptions

The health care resources program also relies on church members serving as community health ambassadors and trained health coaches to guide individuals in accessing the available resources. This holistic approach seeks to foster a sense of trust and understanding between the community and the medical profession.

With an initial installation of five kiosks at churches on the South and West sides, the health care resources program is set to expand to more congregations in October. At a cost of approximately $2,000 per kiosk, Pastor Richard Patterson’s church in Chatham is among the first to benefit from this initiative.
