Mental Health Committee Established to Monitor Aviation Professional’s Mental Health Conditions

A mental health committee was established to monitor the mental health conditions of aviation professionals, including pilots and controllers, after a pilot reportedly tried to crash a jet due to a nervous breakdown, leading to the creation of the mental health committee.

According to a report published in Reuters, the mental health committee will consist of up to 20 members, all reportedly in charge of ensuring the mental health conditions of aviation professionals as well as monitoring those who are suffering from mental health issues under the care of the mental health committee.

With the mental health committee, aviation professionals suffering from different mental health problems would be able to address their conditions rather than bottling them all inside, just like what happened to the pilot who was arrested for attempted murder due to a nervous breakdown, which resulted in the establishment of the mental health committee.

Mental Health Committee to Address Mental Health Issues of Aviation Professionals to Determine Who Are Capable to Fly

Following the incident, the mental health committee will help in addressing the mental health issues of aviation professionals to determine who among them is really capable of flying without putting their passengers in danger.

However, other critics claimed that the mental health committee was not enough to address the issues, but the company itself should address the underlying reasons why aviation professionals get stressed at work, Fox Business reported.
