Low serum levels of vitamin D are linked to the development and stages of cutaneous melanoma

The most deadly type of skin cancer, cutaneous melanoma (CM), has been linked to a lack of vitamin D as an indicator of risk. Researchers looked into the relationship between 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels and a lack of vitamin D, as well as the prevalence and stage of CM.

We looked at 5 databases from the beginning until July 11, 2022. Studies that matched CM patients with normal controls and documented mean 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels, the existence of vitamin D insufficiency in CM patients, or the relationship between a lack of vitamin D and Breslow tumor level, or the growth of metastases in CM were also included.
