Hospitalizations for COVID Up 16%, Significant Increases in Several States

According to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), COVID-19 hospitalizations increased for a 7th consecutive week, indicating the beginning of the “summer spike” of cases.

In the United States, a total of 17,418 COVID-19 hospitalizations as of August 26. In contrast, on July 22, that number was 8,061.

Regions of COVID surges are being recorded all over the United States, however, some regions are more severely impacted than others.

For the period ending August 26, around 10 and 20 additional COVID hospitalizations were reported in roughly two-thirds of Florida’s sixty-seven counties.

Currently, there are 5.25 COVID-19 hospitalizations for every 100,000 persons nationwide on average. Florida, on the other hand, averages 12.2.
