Dr. Deborah L. Birx, the distinguished public health expert and former White House coronavirus response coordinator, has taken on a pivotal role at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock.

Dr. Deborah L. Birx will serve as the center’s presidential adviser and assume the role of adjunct professor at the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health

President Lori Rice-Spearman expressed great enthusiasm regarding the arrival of Dr. Deborah L. Birx. Rice-Spearman stated, “We are privileged to have her join our team and eagerly anticipate her becoming a part of the TTUHSC community.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Deborah L. Birx worked closely with state authorities and former President Donald Trump in formulating pivotal decisions and disseminating public health guidelines.

President Rice-Spearman anticipates that Dr. Deborah L. Birx’s expertise will play a pivotal role in advancing scientific endeavors for the betterment of the community

Dr. Deborah L. Birx’s addition to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center stands as a significant milestone in bolstering public health initiatives in the region.
