A New York City police captain has been suspended for allegedly utilizing a false positive COVID-19 test result to prolong their family’s holiday in the Dominican Republic, based on the New York Daily News.

A report claims that while the entire family was on holiday in September 2022, Officer Edward Nunez-Nunez’s wife became infected with COVID-19. The officer got medication at the same hospital where his spouse was treated after he too had COVID-19 symptoms.

The report claims that Nunez-Nunez did not receive a COVID test at the facility. When the officer returned to the scene, a piece of paper with Nunez-Nunez’s positive result was given to him; however, a QR code on the paper indicated that the remaining information was for another individual.
