Great Expectations Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
Sara closes the blinds on their home to start the show, and then Joe gets to work on his blacksmithing. Afterward, we witness Miss Havisham forcing Pip and Estella to participate in a game in which he must locate Estella while she is blindfolded; if he succeeds, she is all his.
But as he moves about, she places obstructions in his path, making the game harder. It’s a montage showing Pip playing the game and Sara simultaneously flogging Mr. Pumblechuck.
Estella and Pip might be seen discussing her life in that house. She talks about how horrible it is and how she needs to find a wealthy man to help her escape.
After thereafter, Pip gets socked in the face by Herbert, a youngster who Estella claims is in love with her. To see him fight and defend her, Estella is coercing the two into a battle.
She then interrogates him on all of the plans he has for the future to develop into a gentleman.
Moving on, we visit Court Number One at the Old Bailey, where a man is pounding on a man’s door to try to bring one of his clients in front of the court. The judge approaches him with a gun, but he hesitates before pulling the trigger.
The next thing we see is Jaggers, the knocking guy, compelling the judge to sign the document releasing a prisoner. A little while later, he charges outdoors to release his client before being hanged.
Pip relates his day to Estella when he gets home. Before he can continue, Mr. Pumblechuck stops to share the wonderful news of Miss Havisham‘s affection for Pip with Joe and Sara.
Sara doesn’t like the way Pip conducts himself, but he tells her he wants to leave as soon as possible and start a new life elsewhere.

Who Is Biddy?
In episode one, we first meet a young Biddy, but in episode two, we get a greater sense of who she is. Biddy is with him; she is the intelligent student Pip picks on at school.
In this episode, Pip explains his desire to hire her as his tutor so that he might please Miss Havisham and Estella.
Pip receives daily instruction from Miss Havisham and Estella at her home on how to behave a lady in public. Suddenly there is a time shift, and an older Pip and Estella are shown meeting at the gate.
Pip’s birthday is today, and Madam Havisham and Estella have a surprise in store for him.
What Is Pip S Birthday Present from Miss Havisham?
Pip is informed by Miss Havisham that he must be skilled in horseback riding, boxing, dancing, and sex. They lead him upstairs, where he receives Mrs. Givens as his birthday present.
Pip follows instructions despite his strong reluctance, and amusingly, Mrs. Givens turns around, smiles at him, and leaves. Afterward, we see Jagger talking to a scribe as he is composing a letter to Miss Havisham about Pip and how he will help the youngster be what she needs him to be, and how he will make accommodations for the boy.
Later that day, Estella teaches Pip some French, which has recently become necessary for him to learn. Finally, Pip goes over to Biddy and asks her to start teaching him.
Miss Havisham informs Pip that he will ask a woman who only speaks French to dance at a society ball he will be attending. Pip had a hard start, but he manages to land with Estella, and they start dancing.
Miss Havisham asks Pip if he loves Estella after the dance, but he tries to explain to her that his aim isn’t to fall in love. She doesn’t care, though, and wants him to go above and above to win Estella over.
Ultimately, she gives him some cash and instructs him to get some new clothing.
