The IRS intends to give you cash, and the organization is doing everything possible to spread the news. If you are eligible, you could receive $900 or more, yet you have just a few months to file for your funds.

The IRS said this past month that there are roughly 1.5 million unpaid refunds for the 2019 tax year, with a projected total of $1.5 billion. $893 is the average refund. You must file your 2019 return by July 17, 2023, to be eligible for compensation.

Taxpayers typically have 3 years to claim their returns and request their reimbursements. The money belongs to the U.S. Treasury if it is not filed within 3 years. Yet, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which occurred in the 2020 tax season, taxpayers were allowed extra time than normal to submit taxes and get refunds for 2019.

On July 17, 2023, the 3-year window for unfiled taxes from 2019 will now open. On February 27, 2023, the IRS released Notice 2023-21, which offered legal advice on claims submitted by the delayed deadline.
